Because that is the only demographic who would give a shit about the piss-poor prose Hov offers on this record. However, this album is still a good listen. Mostly tame tales of woe from rapper turned singer. And Empire State of Mind is an absolute classic, just like this album. Without its filler, this album could have been at least good, if not great. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. The greatest hip-hop albums of all time all used emotions as a vehicle for greatness, this album lacks emotionality, and merely highlights his status as an amazing rapper, with an amazing life, reppin an amazing city. Although The Blueprint 3 is musically a return to form (after Kingdom Come and American Gangster didn't quite live up to Jay-Z's considerable legacy), it suffers from a lack of punch. Parents need to know that though Jay-Z runs in the most hardcore of rap circles, he's also interested in achieving mainstream success with his records; as a result, even the explicit version of this album is a type of "rap-lite" that includes some foul language here and there but lacks a lot of the extremely graphic adult content found in other rap records.
Not his best, but not nearly his worst. Yeah he had millions when the Blueprint came out, but he wasn't the leader of the pack, he had things to prove, his past was still in recent memory, and he didn't have B by his side. Look at his previous two albums.
